For many men, Don Draper is the epitome of confidence. What most people don’t realize is that confidence actually comes in two flavors. There is the external confidence that you project, which can make closing deals, making friends or seducing happen more naturally. There is also the internal confidence you feel which is how comfortable you are in any given situation.
In this video, we’re going to analyze what Don can teach us about both levels of confidence, and how mastering each level can take you from being nervous to completely confident in any situation.

0:41 - Lesson #1: His relaxed body language.
2:58 - Lesson #2: Don is non-reactive.
5:18 - Lesson #3: He doesn’t try to convince other people.
6:57 - Lesson #4: The belief that he will be okay, no matter what.

  • I enjoy this channel since I am a visual learner. Maybe it’s just the area I live in. But I swear I will pause long enough to inhale a breath and the other person jumps in to tell you their thoughts opinions or even finish the sentence with what they think you are going to say. Maybe the “pause” advice is good in a office s setting and not in social group settings.

  • The video does nothing it set out to do. COC tries to suggest that Don Draper is the epitome of self-confidence in the first 3/4 of this video, then indicates that Don Draper only became truly self-confident when he was able to shed the lies and tell the truth about who he really was and were he came from in order to connect with people, in the last 1/4. I'm not sure that the author realized his lack of congruence.

  • * Be relaxed - Spread out (standing, sitting being spread) - Move freely around - People have to work for attention - Selective eye contact ( give attention when making a point ; if the other person is doing it, then stare) * Be Non-reactive - Stay silent under pressure ( give pauses to think) - Don’t fidget under pressure * Dont try to convince people - Frame yourself as a equal partner ( in a negotiation; You are screening them as much as they are screening you) - Be willing to walk away ( not emotionally; if its clear that it signifies your confidence; Looks we’re not a match, wish you all the best) * Believe that you’ll be okay - Even if you do something that will prove a loss, be confident and know that you wont ever lose your own trust.

  • To me this guy looks like a fictional character, an actor if you will. Everything is staged: from his looks to his clothes, to the other actors and their reactions, to his mannerisms and intelligence, it's all fake people. It's nice to take some tips, but for the love of god please just be yourself and dont put up some ACT. It really does make for some strange behaviour in the really real world. Thank you. Ps, to me this guy is more cocky than confident, not a guy i'd like to be. I like being me, even though i screw up a lot and are just a human being that doesn't know it all. Just try your best to get along, to understand each other, to make people around you feel comfortable (and not in awe or intimidated), and don't be afraid to make mistakes. When you do, graciously apologise and genuinely try to see and ask if there's anything you can do to restore the damage your mistake has caused. Accept yourself as you are, and always try to become a better man. Not some cocky douche that get's the business deals, fancy suits, cars and women but is actually a complete empty shell, a fictional fake character.

    • Yea this makes no sense to me why would we be taking advice on “confidence” from an actor in a movie. Confidence is all about being sure of yourself regardless of the situation that your in. No one should have to pretend to be something or someone else just be happy with who you are and what you stand for simple as that.

I clicked on this video as "30% rule" sounded like a low effort way to feel less nervous ... I'm not sure anymore 😂 Some of these steps make me feel nervous just thinking of it! I agree with being yourself Tips here and there for better communication skills may help, like taking some time to think of valuable answers to questions when it's suitable in some circumstances Or give other people time to talk aswell etc Hope your comment gets more attention👍🏼

  • Beautiful ad. And I mean it. But you can't build a house from top to bottom, you can't start any building, starting from the roof and finishing by the foundations. As Mr. Rogers always implied, kids can identify a liar from miles away. Why is this important? Because if you try to portray an interesting and confident man to a kid, without being one, the kid or children in question will just ignore you, or worse, will mock of you. Kids are the most straightforward people in terms of defining a stage of maturity on which "where do people tend to be more sincere". Let aside your luggage, so it won't make you tired, take off your shoes to feel the grass and the dirt, and be thankful of what you have, worry about connect with others in a deep and meaningful way and not out of any kind of monetary or material incentives. Other than that, this guy of Charisma on Command, knows his thing, listen carefully and enjoy yourself.

  • Two things about this. First, it is GOING to work out. Each and every time, no matter what the situation. It is simply that sometimes it does not work out the way we would like. Get used to it. Welcome to real life. The second thing is, follow the rules. I have rules I NEVER break, it just is not worth it. The first of those three NEVER to broken rules is Rule #1: "The absolute and BRUTAL truth, I don't care whose feelings get hurt, even my own." So, I guess I have that part under control. And guess what? My life is great! I wont tell you the details, but it seems everyone I know wants to be me. Though that sounds great and feels good, it is a great responsibility.

Likewise I've known very confident and charming people with very little power. Having good body language is always going to be beneficial, it's just a small factor in success, out of many. Just be someone who others feel good around, and who feel meeting you was a positive experience. Good luck!

  • This is how to look confident, not how to be confident. Those are very different from each other. The world is full of people trying to look like something while hiding their true selves. My advice would be to always try to be yourself. That doesn’t mean accept being dominated by stress and anxiety but you can learn how to deal with it and still be yourself. Otherwise you will just be mimicking some confident moves while falling apart inside and that’s very short-lived. To be confident you have to remember that only you, and no one else, can bring your contribution to the table. You’re unique and you’re in a certain situation because, ultimately, you put yourself in it. And, if you believe in God, you can also recognize that He will put you in certain situations so that you can learn something, help someone and move on to your next challenge. On another note, Don Draper should not be a role model for anything. During 7 seasons, he ruined pretty much everything with everyone and, in the end, instead of finding himself, he just found an idea for a Coke ad. Now if you want a role model, Jon Hamm is certainly someone to watch.

He would have to go be really determined to fail. I would be more interested in talking to a 5'5" man who succeeded in the world. They are out there. I am sure they would have some interesting stories to tell.

  • Jesus loves you. If you repent of your sins and give your life to Him: He will fill you with love, give you happiness in your life, and bless you. The next time that you feel sick or worried or scared, ask Jesus into your heart and your life will get better. Videos will never fill the void inside of you, but Jesus will if you give your life to Him. He will love you, keep you company, and answer your questions. He is real and a lot of the time He will speak to you through your conscience. God is love and everything good comes from Him. Everything good in the world comes from love. Romantic love, familial love, friendship, the love you feel for your hobbies, the love you have for your favorite music, favorite food, favorite movie, etc. All of it comes from God. Without love there is no point to life. It is what we all live for and it is what we were all made for, but the devil tries to ruin everything with fear, stress, worry, etc. Try to get to know God. He is truly worth worshipping.
